Doggy Facilities

You will have full access to two fenced dog walking fields (that are over an acre each) if your hounds need to burn off some energy. The fences are 4-foot fences so they won’t stop that uber determined escape artist, but they will be much more relaxing for those of you who have hounds with zero recall (like all of our dogs when the mood is on them!)

The Kernow Bear Newfoundland pack will be walked between 11am and 1pm each day and the dog walking fields and all gates will be closed during this time. As hobby breeders our girls are intact and could be in heat or pregnant, so if you have an intact and frisky dog please tell us this when you enquire about booking so we can make sure you, your dog(s), and ours will be 100% happy throughout your stay.

All our furry guests will receive a special doggy welcome pack and all of our glamping pods come with water bowls and paw washing facilities including Easi Dri towels.

We have blasters and dog shampoo that we will always let guests use if they have a doggy disaster (we’ve all been there!) just ask and we will assist in any way we can.

We love dogs (we have 8 Newfoundlands of our own) and all we ask is that your doggy companions are up to date with their vaccines, well behaved and that you pick up after them. You don’t have to have a dog to stay here, but if you don’t like dogs it’s probably not the place for you!

Doggy Days Out

For those of you who want to have a day at the beach with your dog we have found some really handy links for you.

Always remember to take enough water with you and try not to take your dogs out if it is a really hot day as the sand and tarmac can burn their paws and a number of breeds are prone to heatstroke. The Kernowbears tend to find a shaded spot on the garden when its sunny, usually (conveniently for them) under the outdoor tables while we are eating.

There are a number of beaches that still allow dogs unrestricted during the summer months, they tend to be the tiny ones with little or no facilities.
There are others that allow dogs during certain hours (usually before 10am or after 6pm) so if you fancy an early morning jaunt or maybe you’d like to catch an evening meal with the whole family then they will be great for you.

The beach guide has 137 beaches listed where dogs are allowed and a further 73 where dogs are restricted in Cornwall. There are 5 beaches in Cornwall on which a dog ban is in operation.

These are beaches where there are generally no restrictions on taking your dog on the beach any time of the year. This covers the majority of beaches in Cornwall. There are one or two that require dogs to be kept on the lead during the summer months.

Beaches where dogs are restricted

Most of these restrictions are seasonal bans, although additional information will be included on the beach description page. As a rule the seasonal ban runs from 1st July to 31st August (or 15th May to 30th September on the most popular beaches) unless otherwise stated in the beach description. These restrictions also generally only apply between 10am and 6pm.
