Kernow Bears Glamping at Kellogg Farm

Kernowbears Glamping at Kellogg Farm is a small, dog friendly, relaxed, off grid and eco-friendly glamping site situated within a 20-minute drive of both Cornish coasts with glorious views of St Ives and beyond.

We currently have two independent Glamping Pods, one called ‘The Glade’ Which is encased by trees and has a wonderfully cosy feel. The other is called ‘Gwel an Mor’ and faces the bay of St Ives with far reaching views of the Godrevy coastline.

To get you started and share a taste of Cornwall we provide all guests with a welcome pack containing natural treats for the dogs, milk, eggs, bread, scones, butter, jam, clotted creams and marshmallows

We are certified by the Greener Camping Club, which is a fantastic organisation that donates a good chunk of its membership fees to tree planting. As you wander around the glamping site you will see that we are also obsessively planting trees and have put nearly 2000 baby saplings in this year.

We are fully booked for 2023. Please contact us if you would like to book for 2024.

Sustainable Glamping Pods in Cornwall

The Glamping Pods

Our two independent, very dog friendly Glamping Pods that can be booked individually for up to four people and two dogs, or together for up to eight people and four dogs. Saying this we can’t get enough of the pups, so if (like us) you have additional dogs that you would like to bring, give us a call to discuss!

Both Glamping Pods come with their own outdoor kitchen that has everything we think you will need to cook great meals including a pizza oven and a double gas stove, lots of kitchen equipment, six-person dining table and BBQ Griddle for the open fire pit.

There is a private composting toilet and shower for each tent and solar power that is usually sufficient to run the lights and charge your phone. Next to each shower is an outside sink suitable washing people and dishes. Hot and cold running water is freely available.

Each private Glamping Pod is securely fenced and has its own parking space. We are happy for your dogs to be off lead in your area and you can relax knowing they haven’t wandered off to explore the moor next door.

The Bell Tents

Both ‘The Glade’ Glamping Pod includes a luxury 6-meter bell tent on a large wooden base. Each tent has a comfortable double bed and a day bed that makes into another double and all bed linen is provided. Please make sure to tell us if you need the day bed linen too when you book.

The Bell tents are equipped with a wood-burning stove and come with a supply of wood, kindling and firelighters – lighting instructions are included in the welcome pack.

If you should get chilly at night just give us a call and we can run up with some extra blankets. Your bedding is provided for you as well as a bath towel and hand towel for each guest. We hire the bedding from a linen hire company, so please don’t let muddy hounds jump on the beds.

Each Bell Tent comes equipped with solar power that is sufficient to run your lights and charge your mobile phone, but it is dependent on the weather to a degree. We do provide a torch just in case the solar has been drained and you need to nip to the loo in the middle of the night.

The Kitchens

Your kitchen comes equipped with everything we thought would help make cooking a variety of foods as simple as possible. There is kettle, pots and pans, plates, cutlery, cups, glasses, chopping boards, sharp knives, cooking utensils, bottle opener, tin opener, cheese grater, big bowls for sharing meals and even a colander.

There is double gas hob and a small grill for you to use and a Pizza oven that can also be used as a normal oven! Each kitchen has a good-sized cool box with ice packs provided to keep all your perishables cool in, and close to hand. You’ll find the ice packs frozen in the Useful Shed freezer and can refreeze the them whenever you need to. More on that below!

There is a big plastic container that we advise you keep your other food in. We are in the countryside and by keeping food stored in sealed boxes, we don’t encourage any local wildlife to attempt to steal food!

There is a first aid kit, fire extinguisher and fire blanket in each kitchen, in case of emergencies and a bottle of eco-friendly washing up liquid on the sink which we ask that you use as we try to be careful about what goes into the soil.

The Showers and Composting Toilets

You have a private shower that has instant hot water fed by an LPG gas fired boiler. There are eco-friendly and biodegradable shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand wash provided in the showers for all our guests.

The lighting for the toilets and shower runs off the solar, please remember to turn them off during the day otherwise you will be draining the solar battery which is much more needed at night.

To reassure those of you that may have not encountered a composting toilet before, it has a standard toilet seat and works pretty much like a normal loo. You just don’t flush it with water, you use sawdust instead. It is not at all smelly as long as you follow a few simple steps, and you can check those out in the full Welcome Pack that you can download below.

You may be a bit dubious (I was too until we stayed somewhere that was using this model to check out that they actually worked), but they do work perfectly and are not at all gross if you follow the simple rules.

The Firepit and outdoor areas

Each Glamping Pod has its own fenced outdoor area with firepit and BBQ griddle. The firepits have been positioned to cause minimum hazard so please don’t move them, we wouldn’t like the fire extinguishers to get their first use because someone got creative whilst crisping their sausages.

You are welcome to spread out and kick a football around (or any other outdoor game you would like to play, we have a swing ball that guests can use) in any of the bear-free zones.

There is a picnic bench for guests in The Glade just on the other side of the wall so that you have a place to sit and watch the amazing sunsets we get over the sea view.

There is electric stock fencing around the perimeter of the whole farm (it looks like a thin black and white rope threaded through the top of the fences), there are signs dotted around to show where it is. It is there to stop the Kernowbears from wandering and getting too curious about our neighbour’s livestock.

The Useful Shed

We have an aptly named ‘Useful Shed’ near the entrance to the campsite that is stocked with lots of useful items that you can help yourself to during your holiday. The shed operates with an honesty policy. This means we let you know the items or services that have an extra charge, and we ask you to leave the payment in the honesty box or send it to us via bank transfer as you take the items.

There is extra sawdust for your wicker sawdust bin in the composting toilet should you need it. There is also a freezer where you can refreeze your ice pack whenever you want to. Both these services are free of charge, and you can help yourself. You’ll also find the main rubbish and recycling bins here where you can drop off your waste.

The Useful Shed contains extra firewood available for £5 per bag, and kindling packs for £2.50. All the tents start off with 3 bags near their fridge freezer, which is included in the cost of your holiday, any bags you take from the useful shed is charged separately. If you need more just shout.

Recycling facilities, running water and great views are included in all packages. If you have any questions, we encourage you to give us a call to discuss your trip. We are really flexible as long as we know what is going on and we want to make sure your holiday is everything you could wish for.

The Hound Hub

We keep saying we’re all about the dogs really, so make sure you visit our Hound Hub to find out about all of our dog friendly facilities including doggy welcome packs, walking fields, grooming supplies and lots of information on where you and your furry friends can explore.
